Dana, Catrina and Josh

Up-and-coming Southern Gospel trio, Shields of Faith, will headline the Cowboy Gospel Jubilee, Friday night at 7pm. The show is free and open to the public.

“Shields of Faith is one of the strongest groups we’ve ever booked,” said “The Gospel Gun,” Rev. Will Nichols, announcer and producer of the local music show. “Their vocals are so strong they’ll stop you in your tracks, but at the same time they sound effortless. It’s a sweet combination. It’s no wonder they were nominated for a Southern Gospel Music Fan Award this year.”

Composed of Josh and Dana Shields and Catrina Hasty-Swaggerty, Shields of Faith hail from Flintstone, GA., and have been singing at area venues and churches for six years.

“Josh and Dana’s singing is a testimony to God’s grace towards their family ,” said Nichols. “Pulled from the wreckage of the world, they are proof-positive that the Lord is loving and merciful.”

The third member of the trio, Catrina Hasty-Swaggerty, is often recognized from singing with her family, The Hasty’s, for more than twenty years. A prolific songwriter, Swaggerty has written several hit songs including The Hasy’s – “Gabriel, Go Blow Your Trumpet,” and “I’m Born Again.”

The Jubilee is a fast-paced, Opry-style show that features multiple performers and various styles of music. Regulars appearing on the Jubilee include Southern Gospel singer Amy McAlister, singer-songwriter Elmer Bramlett,  the Cowboy Church Band and Chorale, as well as rodeo clown and cowboy, Bob Corley,, Nichols said.

“The latest regular to be added to the cast is a multi-talented musician, singer and songwriter, Danny O’Boyle,” revealed Nichols. “Danny adds a new dimension to the show.”

The Cowboy Gospel Jubilee is held at the Cleveland Cowboy Church in the Dockery Heights community at 3040 Blythe Road, off Dockery Lane, between Blue Springs and Blackburn Roads. A love offering is taken.
